Foreword

This marks the final edition of the ZomerJazzFietsTour.

That remains a strange realization. An event so distinctive, unique, and beloved by the audience, musicians, volunteers, and organizers alike, one would wish it eternal youth. Yet, times change. The boundless, often voluntary efforts and the logistical madness give ZJFT its character. But now also its expiration date.

This edition, however, is just as fresh as all its predecessors with its familiar 'à la carte tour de force'. If you missed the first edition in 1987, today you can still revel in it. But also from other editions come the best that jazz-improvisation has to offer on stage. Sometimes in familiar, sometimes in entirely new constellations. This complemented by up-and-coming talent through our collaboration with the Prins Claus Conservatorium. And if you want to truly indulge in nostalgia, do pay a visit to the 'memory lane' at De Doorrit in Garnwerd.

But do not let this overwhelm you. This is the last ZomerJazzFietsTour. In this form. Because we wouldn't be ZJFT if we weren't already contemplating new paths, different forms in which we can connect this unique programming, this beautiful landscape, and this amazing audience. To use a culinary metaphor: we have pots simmering on the stove.

For now, we wish you a flavorful ZomerJazzFiets-Tour with a spectacular dessert in the tent in Garnwerd.
